Aylesbury Tennis Club Hosts Successful LTA Grade 3 Junior Tournament

From 10–16 August 2025, Aylesbury Tennis Club proudly hosted a fantastic week of tennis with our LTA Grade 3 Junior Tournament. The event brought together 194 players from 83 different clubs across the South and South East region, making it one of the biggest and most exciting junior tournaments we’ve ever run.

Sunshine and Tennis
With daily play starting around 9am, matches filled the courts until early evening — and on a couple of days even stretched until 8:30pm due to some epic battles! The week was marked by incredible weather, with blue skies and 29–30°C temperatures almost every day. To keep everyone cool, the club handed out free ice pops, while families and players made the most of picnic tables, parasols, and umbrellas.

Thankfully, the Finals Day on Saturday brought cooler, cloudy conditions — perfect for high-quality tennis. That day saw nine finals played, with age groups ranging from Under 8s to Under 18s, across boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles.

Smooth Organisation and Community Support
The tournament was expertly overseen by our two fabulous LTA referees, Janet and Ann, who did an amazing job coordinating matches across such a busy schedule.

A huge thank you also goes to Yvonne and our Aylesbury Tennis Club volunteers, who worked tirelessly each day setting up the venue, preparing gazebos, tables, and shaded seating areas for families and supporters.

The club café team was in full swing every day, keeping players and guests fuelled with toasties, tea, coffee, cakes, fruit, and, of course, plenty of drinks and ice creams!

A Special Finals Day Treat
We were delighted to have Miya Japanese Restaurant Grill and Bar as our tournament sponsor. On Finals Day, Miya treated everyone to a delicious buffet of sushi, side dishes, and prawn crackers, complete with chopsticks and traditional touches. It was a memorable highlight that impressed players, families, referees, coaches, café staff, and club members alike.

Recognised by the LTA
On the Thursday, we welcomed an LTA representative to the club to assess the organisation and presentation of the event. We are thrilled to share that he was very impressed, meaning Aylesbury Tennis Club is eligible to host this prestigious Grade 3 tournament again next year.

A Tournament to Remember
The feedback from families and players has been overwhelmingly positive, with several parents commenting that this was the best Grade 3 tennis tournament they had ever attended — well organised, friendly, and welcoming from start to finish.
